Stacie Franklin (Temple member and former Temple Board President) is asking for Temple Social Action volunteers to support a fundraising event for Opportunity on Deck, a Central Iowa nonprofit community organization that provides free-of-charge athletic clinics and leagues for communities with children and families who can’t afford to participate in sports. The goals of the organization, beyond teaching athletic skills, are to use sports as a tool to provide role models for participants; instill lifelong values of teamwork, dedication, good character, and healthy living; and promote diverse communities.
Opportunity on Deck is hosting its annual Game for Good, a charity softball game fundraising event, at Principal Park on Friday, September 13, 2019. There are several different volunteer opportunities available, from registration to raffle ticket sales to home run derby fielders. The sign up portal is located at https://signup.com/go/xOLREoc. Stacie is the primary contact for this event and also is happy to any questions about the organization. She can be reached at 515-779-7822 or franklin9195@gmail.com.
