Connecting – A Taste of Judaism Six Session Course
Connecting is a course taught by Rabbi Kaufman that will offer a basic understanding of each topic and address how to connect during this time of pandemic. It is appropriate for those just beginning a study of Judaism and for those who have been longtime members of the community.
Much is different in 2020.
All sessions will take place on Zoom at 7 pm and can also be seen on Facebook Live on Rabbi Kaufman’s page, David Jay Kaufman on Facebook. Zoom links will be provided through the Temple office for those interested in being able to ask questions and interact directly.

Participate in this year’s hike by getting active – walk, bike, or hike sometime next week. We will hike distant but together in the fight against food insecurity!
Then, join the Des Moines Area Hunger Hike on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at 1:30pm on Facebook Live as we hear from guest speakers about their missions to alleviate hunger both locally and globally.
The Temple Youth Group is accepting donations for the hike! You can send a check directly to the Hunger Hike, make a donation online or send a check to the Temple and we can forward your donation on. Remember to put Des Moines Area Jewish Community on the memo line.

The JWFNY Convening provides our entire network – philanthropists, activists, social entrepreneurs, and leaders – an annual opportunity to learn from extraordinary social entrepreneurs and leaders from around the world and celebrate women’s leadership.
Join us ONLINE on Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Eastern for the JWFNY Convening!

Sukkot!
We plan to hold an outdoor in-person Erev Sukkot Shabbat service at the Temple this Friday, October 2 at 6:00pm. We will open both sides of the Sukkah to allow people to walk through the Sukkah, one family at a time, so that they can say the blessings and wave the Lulav and Etrog in celebration of the holiday.
For the service, please bring your own chairs and / or blankets.
Masks will be required.
If weather is bad, we will be online, but so far it is looking good. Please note we will also be streaming this service via Zoom.
