Yahrzeit, which literally means “the anniversary of a death,” is the Jewish tradition of honoring and remembering a loved one on the anniversary of their passing.
One meaningful way to preserve the memory of those who have passed is through a permanent memorial plaque. At Temple B’nai Jeshurun, our Memorial Walls are located at the rear of the sanctuary, providing a lasting tribute to family members and friends who are no longer with us.
Each plaque is engraved with the name of the deceased, along with their dates of birth and passing. A memorial light beside the plaque is illuminated annually on the individual’s Yahrzeit and during Yizkor services, ensuring their memory remains a cherished part of our congregation’s life and worship.
Cost: $500 per plaque.
